Description.
TGenerally a low, spreading shrub rarely reaching 2 metres in height. The ‘leaves’ (phyllodes) are short (to 2 centimetres) and narrowly elliptical, often ending in a slight point. The phyllodes are often held tightly against the branches. The globular, bright yellow flower heads are produced singly or in pairs from the bases of the phyllodes. This species often produces a spectacular floral display. The pods are generally short, hairy and may be curved or undulating. (Many sources indicate that the pods are typically hairless; this is not the case with local forms).
Propagation.
Seed is protected by a hard seed coat which must be broken (either by nicking, abrading, or soaking briefly in near-boiling water) before it will germinate. Germinates readily after treatment. May also grow from cuttings.
Flowering.
Late winter and spring.
Locations.
